Cae Abbot Cottages sit in the heart of the small village of Llangeinor in the Garw Valley. Just 5 miles from the town of Bridgend and the M4, they are ideally situated and within easy reach of the Welsh capital city of Cardiff to the south east, and Swansea to the west. Protected as part of a conservation area, the three fabulous properties offer fantastic views of the open countryside and the rolling hills that surround them.

Meadow Croft

Peacefully set in 2 acres of lawned gardens, this beautifully furnished and extremely well-equipped holiday cottage enjoys excellent walks straight from the back door. Attached to the owner’s 17th-century home, Meadow Croft has its own terrace with beautiful views, and there is a lovely courtyard to the front of the property. The gardens are full of colour from the beautiful plants and trees in the spring and summer, and the view is just spectacular.

Penny Croft

This spacious cottage, renovated in 2019, is bright yet full of character. Its large, open plan kitchen/dining room is the perfect size for friends and family to gather and talk about the day’s adventures. The main living room has exposed walls and beams, and for family members wanting to read, there is a lovely snug with fabulous views of the countryside, which makes a great place in which to relax and unwind. There are also two double bedrooms, a twin room and two bathrooms. A courtyard lies to the front of the property, and in spring and summer the gardens are full of colour with the beautiful plants and trees, and the view is just spectacular.

Directions: Take the M4 to exit 36 - taking the A4061 north ( this involves going round 2 Roundabouts) to Bryncethin. At the traffic lights continue straight ahead on the A4061 (ignore left fork signposted Llangeinor) going through Blackmill and then turn left at sign for Garw Valley A4903 (Llangeinor) then left again at T-junction.

Follow road round up hill to a small crossroads and turn right. You will come to The Llangeinor Arms on the left and the owners house and the cottages are across on the right.

This is an area with lots of character, with hills that beckon the walker. For cyclists, the Afan Argoed Forestry Park, rated in the top ten in the world for mountain bike rides, is within easy reach. Spectacular drives over the inter-valley roads give amazing views, while the rich, rolling land of the Vale of Glamorgan offers many castles, interesting churches and manor houses to explore. The nearest sandy beaches are 12 miles, and the Gower Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty famous for its beaches, magnificent coastal scenery and rich birdlife, is easily accessible.

 

Caerphilly is easily accessible and is famous for its magnificent castle and the crumbly white cheese which is widely available throughout the town. Cardiff is well worth a visit and is an easy and compact city to navigate, with the River Taff flowing through the it’s heart. The Principality Stadium sits happily alongside much older buildings including the castle which gives the city a vibrant and cosmopolitan feel.
